Demon have a lucky escape!

8 of the 19 burnt out lorries only 20ft from the Demon HQ !

The 6th of November was an eventful evening. The neighbouring warehouse belonging to Tuffnells parcels caught fire and completely burnt down along with 19 delivery lorries. At the height of the fire, there were over 60 fire fighters from all over Devon in attendance along with a host of specialist equipment including tankers and a turntable, which rained water onto the building for several hours. The fire started in the early evening and went on right through the night. When daylight came the full extent of the damage was visible. The steel frame was bent and twisted due to the intensity of the heat and will probably be demolished. All nineteen lorries are just ghostly ashen shells, you could not even distinguish the make such was the devastation. All the lorries were full of fuel and along with the tyres, exploding caused quite a hazard for the fire brigade. Both Demons’ factory units suffered external damage to the cladding and the fire fighters had to force entry and remove insulation material from the wall facing the fire to prevent both building from catching fire. Water jets rained onto the cladding to keep it cool however, the paint still blistered and peeled and all the plastic caps, which protect the screws, melted and ran down the cladding. Thankfully, only minimal damage occurred inside the buildings with the smell of smoke lingering in the offices. This was truly a lucky night for Demon. Because of the fire, we are having to get another carrier to cover our deliveries until Tuffnells sort themselves out and would ask customers to make sure orders are placed before 3.00pm to ensure orders are dispatched promptly.
